Have you ever been stopped in your tracks by a color or pattern that just sang out to you? Wherever I am, whatever I am supposed to be doing, a shred of fabric, a worn painted door, or a cracked and craggy stone can do that to me. Color has an emotional impact that is mysterious and powerful. It has become my language to express feelings and states of mind – things that are abstract by nature. It is so often what attracts you to a piece of artwork. I am a scientist turned artist. As an adult I returned to study art in Oakland, CA. My core education was in physics and this clearly influences my style. I strive to strip things to their essence – to communicate complexity with just a few colors and a bold composition.
