Julia San Roman

Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Julia San Roman has lived in San Diego County since 1988. Originally trained as a scientist, she holds a PhD in biology and worked in the biotech industry before returning to school to study art in 2000. She now paints full time and has exhibited extensively in solo and group shows in San Diego, Oceanside, Carlsbad and Solana Beach, California, and in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her current work is inspired by the California Light and Space Movement. She calls this work “bilingual” in that it integrates “geometric abstraction with naturalistic light episodes.”
